TAKOMA PARK, MD — June 02, 2026 — Allpa Foods, a Latino-owned coffee and superfoods brand rooted in its founders' Peruvian and Paraguayan heritage, announced its first placement in a retail grocery store. The brand's full product line is now on shelves at the Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op (TPSS), the community-owned natural foods grocer at 201 Ethan Allen Avenue in Takoma Park, Maryland.
The launch brings Allpa's complete lineup to one of the region's most established cooperative grocers, including its single-origin Cajamarca coffee, cacao powder, maca powder, lúcuma powder, tri-color quinoa, and their newest product, yerba mate. Every Allpa product is made with a single ingredient, a founding commitment the company has held since 2020.

Allpa was co-founded by Elias Burrell and his father, Walter, whose Peruvian roots anchor the brand's identity. Its heart is in Peru, where Allpa's Cajamarca coffee is grown in the northern highlands, a region recognized for bright, balanced cups cultivated at altitude, and where its cacao, maca, lúcuma, and quinoa are sourced. The lineup also reflects the other side of the family: the brand's yerba mate comes from Paraguay, the home country of Elias's mother, Martha, carrying a tradition she grew up with onto the Allpa shelf.
For Allpa, TPSS is a deliberate first home. Founded in 1981 and owned by nearly 10,000 member-owners, the Co-op sources from more than 200 local businesses and prioritizes products that are locally produced, ecologically friendly, and socially responsible, standards that mirror Allpa's own sourcing philosophy.
"Allpa is really the story of my family," said Elias Burrell, founder of Allpa Foods. "My father, Walter, is from Peru, and my mother, Martha, is from Paraguay, so this brand carries both of their countries. Our single-origin Cajamarca coffee and Peruvian superfoods sit right alongside Paraguayan yerba mate, the tradition my mom grew up with. Launching all of it at TPSS, a co-op that's spent more than four decades building and strengthening the local community and bringing families together, is exactly the kind of first home we wanted."
Allpa works through a mix of direct relationships with Peruvian co-ops and trusted distribution partners, with every product sourced from South America.
Allpa Foods plans to expand its retail presence across the DMV region in the coming months. The brand's full product line is also available online at allpafoods.com and through major marketplace platforms.
